Getting fit for a cause

If burgers (or your food/drink of choice) are not enough to motivate you, sometimes looking toward a bigger cause can provide that additional little “umph” in setting new goals and challenges. A win/win situation is finding an event to work toward that can motivate you and help others. Want to step it up from the local 5ks or a bike ride around the park? Try thinking bigger:

The Susan G. Komen 3 Day Walk has events all over the country and raises money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Team in Training benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In addition to raising money for LLS, you can join the team and train for a marathon, half marathon, century ride or triathlon.

The American Diabetes Association holds the Tour de Cure, fund raising cycling events held all over the country.

Bike MS is another cycling related series of events held all over the country with proceeds benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Society.

The Arthritis Foundation sponsors Joints in Motion, a program that trains participants for a marathon or half marathon.

These are just a few of the charity events that are out there, do some searching, find a cause and sign up for a worthy cause!
