I have been neglectful of my duties that occur at the end of the month. While I do have a valid reason (and a shiny new half marathon finishers medal) it still makes me shake my head that I am running late in asking for your stories for how you kicked ass in November!
After all, Running for Burgers is a “we” thing and hearing about how we all kicked ass in our own ways helps me remember that I kick ass, too.
I even thought of all of you as I was donning my rain gear and preparing to head out with Nancy for our relay run. In the rain. Staying in the hotel and watching movies would have been more comfortable, but we put on our big girl pants and made it to the start line! After finishing, we rewarded ourselves with some fabulous, well-earned burgers. Yum.
So time to share, everyone! I’ll be picking one (sometimes two) people to win a signed book by yours truly and the coveted silver burger charm!
I kicked ass by doing the Run to Feed the Hungry 5k Thanksgiving morning with my husband. I really did not want to get up early on a holiday, especially one that I would be doing all the cooking for. But I went joined the other 27,000 crazy people and it was a lot of fun.
I then rushed home and started cooking like mad. Once it was all finished, my husband and I loaded the turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and six homemade pies into the car, and drove two hours away to my Grammy’s house. There I cooked some more. I think the only time I sat the entire day was when we were in the car. I was so sore the next day!
Congrats again on your half marathon here in Sac. I was thinking of you every time I looked out my window and I checked Facebook every half hour. I kept thinking, surely they didn’t go out in this! I don’t think I could have done it. Amazing!
Thanks Amber! It was crazy, crazy, but we were glad we did it. We feel so tough now! BUT NEVER AGAIN 🙂
Congratulations on doing the Turkey Run! I talk about it every year and never do it.
