In the past 17 days, I’ve lost 3 members of my family – my mom, a first cousin and a sister-in-law. I’m thankful for friends, my kids and the rest of my family who have offered remembrances and kind words and hugs whether close or long distance. Rereading notes, choosing to make mom’s recipes and going for walks in the park help.

Thank you, Manda, for your work on disability rights. If I could change one thing, it would be for people to stop assuming someone is not disabled if they don’t have a cast, a cane, or a wheelchair. Walking is painful for me, but I don’t have to use one of the above devices – yet. I’m so tired of getting dirty looks and nasty comments when I park in a handicapped space.
