  1. My favorite holiday would have to be Thanksgiving. We always celebrate Christmas with my mother’s side of the family the Saturday after Thanksgiving, too, so I get to catch up with family I don’t get to see very often.

  8. I think Christmas is my favorite because I spend a lot of time carting a very excited and happy little girl (7) to various activities. Arts and crafts, The Nutcracker ballet, and driving through light displays. Her joy just lights up the holiday for me.

  28. Both my parents come from families of twelve siblings. As a result I have many aunts, uncles and cousins. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because we gather and give thanks for our family ties that bind us each to the other. Although we are separated by ocean and mountains and states we are one heart and one mind in our love and caring. Ohana is family after all, and we are all His children.

  43. Christmas as it has always been about family. I learned the hard way about taking family holidays for granted and didn’t spend the time with my mom for her last Christmases. Now I won’t miss any with my dad, not knowing if they will be the last. My parents also were married Dec 27th and celebrated over 45 years together.

  57. We don’t have thanksgiving here in Ireland so Christmas is my favorite holiday. Also my birthday is just five days before it so it kinda starts for me on the 20th and runs on into the hols.
    The best one I had was on my 50th birthday, five years ago. Lots of family came to stay for my birthday and stayed on, some of them into January 2nd. It was a lot of hard work but oh Lord I had a brilliant time!!!!

So hard to choose..there’s the normal holidays that are easy to choose such as Halloween or Christmas, but being a military brat, I love Veterans Day…I’m part of the VFW and teaching my 6 year old stepson patriotism…Veterans Day we took his dad out for supper, cooked him breakfast, wrote thank you cards and we will be painting rocks with red, whit and blue to leave wherever we go to spread patriotism…

    Well, my favorite holidays is Christmas and New Year… I just love that because is so magical and I get so many days free for doing a lot of things that I love, things like making cookies and hot cocoa with marshmellows. Or reading a good book while I eat or I drink something sweet and hot.

  65. Thanksgiving! Gathering family together, consuming a special meal, sharing the happenings in our lives and our plans for the next year.
    We talked those lost during the year and how much we miss them. ALSO we don’t have to worry about who we wish what at Christmas.

  84. Though not an official holiday – I love Halloween. It is the one time of the year that I go all out because of all the children that live in our area decorating the yard from border to border. Always over 200 trick or treaters – everyone polite and always with an appreciative comment. As a mother, grandmother, great grandmother with the “kids” living out of the area, this is my way of still enjoying the sounds of happy children.

You see, Jewish holidays are “something happened to us, we won, LET’S EAT” Guess who does all the cooking for the 30 plus kids, grandkids, cousins and whoever else shows up at our doorstep? Yeap ME! I’m not a social person so I serve the food, take a plate and lock myself into my den/computer room/library. Nope not a fan of holidays.
